Hebrews 2:1...

Such a great salvation is provided by the God we serve we should never ever consider turning away from it.

It doesn’t matter the cost or the appeal of anyone or anything to seek to draw us away – all else is so inferior to the greatness of the salvation God has provided in Christ it should not even be considered.

It is put to us this way by the Holy Spirit: How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?

Neglect can lead to drifting. Unfortunately, this has been a fairly constant condition even within the true Church of Jesus Christ.

Of course, the solution presented here is to regard what God in Christ has provided as precious, and to cling to it as if our lives depended on holding onto it with all our might. Holding onto it, however, is not a work, but an abiding trust. In a manner of speaking, and as pastor Chuck Smith was known to say, “Stay under the spout where the glory comes out.”

This means living according to our first-love experience with Christ, as Christ Himself commanded the Church at Ephesus in His letters to that church in Revelation 2.

The gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ overcomes the penalty of the Law, which was faithfully spoken by the angels. The punishment for sin found in the Law has been overcome by the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ, Who is God in flesh. This has been proven true by the witnesses to His resurrection, the witness of the Holy Spirit, and by signs and wonders provided by God to the first-days Church.

Jesus has been made to appear lower than the angels, but in fact He is Creator God. He has now been crowned with a glory which has been made apparent only through His suffering. Because He sanctifies us by His own blood, and because of the extreme price He has paid, He is glad to call us brethren.

And by His blood He destroys the enemy we all fear most: death.

Nothing and no one offers anything even beginning to approach the greatness and the glory of the salvation from sin and life everlasting found only in the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
